CCN
is showing its clients how to take advantage of GPRS
to maximise benefit from an 'always connected'
platform from enabled mobile phones. Access to the
Internet or WAP is now possible at up 28kbps
on the new platform instead of the normal 9.6 kbps
dial-up rate from normal non-GPRS phones.
This
unleashes a new world of possibilities for corporate
clients who see the need to equip their workforce
with portable access to client databases, product /
stock information or email as updates become
available.
But the possibilities do not end there...
Whilst
access to up-to-the-minute information is often vital in the
commercial world, the ability to create and transfer files
to your company's mobile server also adds value to your
company's services.
The
current crop of Personal Digital Assistants, a.k.a 'PDA's or
'handheld devices', such as Compaq's IPAQ or Palm's m505
(also available through CCN) are truly coming into their own
with the onset of GPRS.
These
portable devices are enhancing the role of company field
operatives to a degree never before imagined. Members
of your team can now access client accounts, ordering
histories, generate invoices and process stock orders whilst
on client premises. Often, team members would have to return
to the office to update all the new information on to the
corporate system. With 'always on' access to the company
extranet or website - this is no longer required.
And
that, is just the beginning...
