Do You Have Your Own Domain Name?
Just
as your existing business has a name, your web site
must also have a name that users can recognise and
type in. If you already have a bricks and mortar
business a useful starting point would be to search
for your existing trading name. There are many sites
such as www.register.com
where you can search for .com, .co.uk or .net
domains as well as many others.
Beware
that there are many thousands of names registered
every day around the world so your name may already
have been registered. If this is the case then you
will need to choose a name that is either very close
to your existing trading name, an abbreviation or a
description of your industry. Remember though, that
registering Domains for well known companies on
which you do not have copyright to, known as
“Cyber Squatting” is an offence and the
copyright holder may pursue you using the due
process of law.
