Do You Have Web Space?
Just
like a normal business needs floor space, your web
site needs its own space on which it can be built.
There are many options as to how this can be
achieved, although many domain name vendors supply
web space at preferential rates. Web space is held
on a server, which is very much like a large
computer, but that is left on 24 hours a day seven
days a week. It is from this ‘server’ that your
website will reside and it is from this computer
that users will gain access to your site when they
type your domain name into their browser. Should
your business needs require a large amount of
information to be uploaded or that you anticipate
many thousands of users then it may be advisable to
purchase your own server, although this may well
escalate the costs from hundreds to thousands of
pounds.
